to make it clear

I think people get confused with my title as gerontologist. I've spoken about it on my blog before. It's not an everyday common title that comes up in conversation-- so as one, I feel the inclination to explain further.

As a gerontologist, I spent 6 years studying every aspect of the aging population-- everything from the biology and psychology of aging to the political and social impacts. I am qualified to  assess environmental behaviors of older adults and assist those, mainly children in the sandwich generation category with their aging parent(s).

I am also trained in areas relating to the environmental design and development of senior centres--including everything from Adult Day centres to Alzheimer's Care Units.

In addition, with my background, I can design and provide programming to older adults with any level of cognitive abilities and physical capacities.

As a gerontologist, it will forever be my goal to provide a balanced outlook on the aging experience. Certainly, as an optimist, I can assure you that I will share all positive aspects of aging with you. Yes, there is the grim and dim side, the sad and depressing side, but that's not what attracted me to this career in the first place. Working with older adults is special--they are a wonderful and challenging population to work with and that's what makes it so interesting.

Finally, spell check is no longer trying to correct how to spell "gerontologist"--it's finally in their dictionary.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about gerontology or my position as a gerontologist.

Please look for updates on my new business! I can assure you there will be a launch party when it's fully developed!
