"Aging synonyms"

Lesson #1

I am trying to come up with a creative name for my new business venture and decided I would google "aging synonyms" in hopes that something might jump out at me.

Unfortunately, and not surprisingly at all, the synonyms confirmed one of the many reasons why I decided to be a gerontologist--advocacy. To advocate for older adults and eradicate the blasphemy and ageist path society has paved for us. Built on a history of ignorance, lack of education and apathy.

Here is a list:
decline, deteriorate, develop, get along, grow, grow feeble, grow old, grow up, mature, mellow, push, put mileage on, ripen, wane

This was the first time I have ever googled aging. Clearly I need to call my friends at Thesauras.com and let them know that there are many more ways to view aging.

  1. So many messages encoded in our language... this is probably one of so many examples you have. Sad but true.

That would be a great weekly post, new synonyms for aging! Let's change the associations with more positive connotations!!
